Global Marketing & PR on Winning Team

ATLANTA - Sept. 16, 2002 - Jackie Thornton is excited that her company, Atlanta-based Global Marketing & PR, Inc., is a part of the team selected by the Department of Human Resources to develop and manage Georgia's Statewide Cancer Awareness and Education Campaign. This $3.1 million contract will be used to heighten public awareness in support of the goal of the Georgia Cancer Coalition to prevent cancer and detect cancer early.

The winning team includes Fletcher Martin Ewing (FME), Cornerstone Communication Group (Cornerstone), Schapiro Research Group and Global Marketing & PR. Thornton is looking forward to working with staff from FME on this campaign. FME is one of the top 10 advertising agencies in Atlanta, and has a growing public relations practice. "I have already enjoyed working with staff from Cornerstone on another campaign, and I know that it will be a good experience to work with them again" Thornton said. She noted that the entire team looks forward to developing strategies and providing creative services that will help educate Georgians about preventing cancer, providing information about detecting cancer early and reducing the number of lives lost to cancer. "I feel strongly that providing services for the Statewide Cancer Awareness and Education Campaign is one of the most worthwhile projects for which my time could be used, and I look forward to serving as assistant project manager and community affairs director" Thornton said.

Global Marketing & PR is a minority- and woman-owned company that offers event planning, marketing and public relations services. The company is also a participant in the Governor's Mentor Protégé Program.
